Currency
Egyptian pound (LE) is the currency used here and since the exchange rates fluctuates on daily basis you can check the current rate at http://www.xe.com/ucc/.
Credit cards are accepted at major hotels and restaurant. |
| Entry Visa |
All visitors to Egypt must hold passports that are valid
for at least
six months beyond the proposed date of entry to the country. All
western Europeans, all North Americans, Australians and New Zealanders,
can get an Entry visa at the airport.
The process is much easier than getting one through a consulate, the
visas issued at the airport are only valid for one month. You cannot
get them at overland border crossing, or at Aswan, Suez or Nuweiba.
From an embassy or consulate the single-visit and multi-entry types of
visa entitle you to stay in Egypt for three months, the latter allows
you to go in and out of the country three times within this period.
Don't get mislead by statements on the application form that it is
'valid for six months'; This simply means that it has to be used within
that period. |
